The city of Lecce is located in the heart of the Salentine peninsula, the southernmost region of Apulia, that forms the heel of the famous italian boot. Enclosed by Ionian Sea at the west and Adriatic sea at the east coast Salento has more than 250km of coastline, changing between large sandy beaches and rocky cliffs.

The city of Lecce itself is more than 2000 years old and most famous for its baroque architecture. The 17^th century historical center is almost completely preserved and many examples of fine sculpture artwork is found on religious and secular buildings..
Lecce is therefore sometimes called ‘Florence of the South’. Buildings are made of ‘pietra leccese’, a kind of limestone, that shows its greatest beauty in the evening hours, when the illumination invites to a walk full of atmosphere. Moreover remains from the messapic and roman period can be found.

As the city is small, almost everything is in walking distance. Housing outside the historical center is rather affordable and especially students can find good apartments.
A two rooms (80 square meters) apartment costs about 400-600 euro per month. In total, the cost of life is quite cheap in Lecce: a single (a family) can live without any limitation already with a net salary of 900 euro (1400 euro).

The technical faculties outside the city can be reached by bus.
